My Favs On Thursdays

Linking up with Katy & Meghan and sharing our fav things this Thursday!

Today I am sharing my love for my new Nora & Jac headbands. I first met Jacqueline a few years ago when we were participating in a blog hop.

We instantly got a long, and started following each other on Instagram. When she posted her new collection of headbands I fell in LOVE. I just had to have this navy and white tribal print. It came in the mail and did not disappoint.

They are so lightweight and comfortable. The perfect length and very well made.

I also picked up this adorable leopard, which looks great with a top bun. I love that because they are comfy they are perfect for wearing around the house, but the prints make them a great accessory for going out.

Here are some of my other favs from her shop, which would you pick? If you order be sure to let her know you heard about her on our blog.

She is always posting her specials, and new designs on her instagram account, so be sure to give her a follow! {@jacmaries}

Disclaimer: Nora & Jac provided me with these headbands to review but all opinions are my own!

DIY Jewelry Hanger

Today I am sharing a simple and easy DIY. This jewelry holder is a great way to organize your jewelry as well as bring some color to your bathroom or closet.

Here is what you will need for the project

I got everything I needed between Michaels and Home Depot. The knobs and brushes I had, and it was about a $10 project once you included the wall hanging supplies. (Not pictured E6000 glue to attach knobs)

The first thing I did was decide where I wanted BAUBLE to go, then I arranged my letters. Make sure you get the edges ALL THE WAY pushed down. That way when you paint you are sure to get sharp lines.

Remove the letters promptly (but carefully) after you paint over them, the letters got stickier the longer they were there and I had to do some touch-ups by the time I got to the "E"

Next I attached the knobs using E6000 glue, make sure you dry overnight before you try and hang anything on the knobs!

Cameron used simple picture hangers to attach it to the wall. What do you think, is DIY worth a try?

Make Your Own Taco Seasoning

You know the panic that you feel when you have dinner planned and then you realize you forgot something at the store? Well a few weeks ago that happened to me. Meat browned, cheese shredded, salsa made, and no taco seasoning for the meat.

No time to run to the store, I did a quick search for how to make your own taco seasoning. I tweaked the recipe a bit based on the spices I had, and cooked it up. It was AWESOME, and we haven't had store-bought since.

The best part is you can make it ahead of time and keep it in the pantry with your spices, that way you don't have to take the time to make it while you are cooking.

Because it has been such a hit, I thought I would share it here. It is so easy to do!

HOMEMADE TACO SEASONING
makes approx. 6 tablespoons

2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
1 Tablespoon Orgeano
1 Tablespoon Cumin
1 1/2 Teaspoon Sea Salt
1 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper

Drain meat, add 1/2 cup water and use about 2 tablespoons of the seasoning per 1 pound of meat, adjust to taste, just like you would with a store-bought taco packet!

You can store the rest in an airtight container with your other spices! Enjoy!

Indie Craft Experience - Summer Ice 2014

This post is a bit delayed, but I just had to do a recap of Summer ICE, you know like before it is Fall time.

We met some amazing makers, and a lot of fabulous local customers. I love our little space in the online word, but it is so nice to meet some of our customers and see them love on our stuff in person.

We loved our little spot against the windows, Ambient+ studio is a beautiful event facility in Atlanta

Cameron spray-painted this typewriter that I scored for $3 at a garage sale a few months ago

Happy shoppers filling up the ICE event

Go Forth Goods, amazing leather pieces

The adorable force behind Muncle Fred Art
The most amazing felt flowers I have ever seen, happy to have some on my mantle

Random pretty things happening over here at r-ki-tekt, love her fun and colorful vibe!

So glad to meet this couple behind The Woolberry Press, love their rustic style!

This was by far the most organized show we have been a part of, loved all the other vendors as well as the customers.

If you are local, please attend the next event! Hoping we get to participate in the winter indie craft experience as well!

Thursday Mess

I started this post, called Monday goals, on Sunday night. Now it is Thursday. I should be sharing a post about my fav thing this week, but since my Monday post got pushed to Thursday, expect that sometime next month.

That should give you some indication on how I have tried and failed to get my act together this week.

I promised of July/August custom work this week, the post office banged up a few custom orders (side note: did you know that when you file a claim with the usps they want to know the cost of the item PREpostage, then if your claim gets approved you get the amount of the product back but they don't reimburse you the postage, what sense does that make) and it has been BEAUTIFUL here all week, not August HOTlanta weather at all, which makes us all restless to get outside.

The post office screw up did however inspire some new packaging stickers, because apparently stamping DO NOT BEND all over the package isn't enough.
Generally speaking I am a perfectionist. I would rather do nothing, than do something I know I can't put everything into. So I have been ignoring the blog. But I need to remember to strive for progress not perfection.

With that being said, I have some fresh posts coming at you starting Monday, and some new things I can't wait to show off! Oh and welcome to all of the new blog followers! So glad you are here!
