Five On Friday

I am taking a bit of a different approach for today's Five On Friday. I usually share some of the things that I have done this week or are looking forward to doing over the weekend. But today I am want to talk about Five things I don't know anything about but wish I did.

I think my number ONE thing I wish I knew how to do is sew. Watching those mice whip up Cindy's dress seemed so easy - but I opened a pattern once and had no clue what was going on.
It is one of those things I have always wanted to do, always meant to do and never did.

TWO Calligraphy. I am not sure if I have shared the story of my horrible handwriting as a child, and how my Mom made me practice and practice and practice to make it perfect and presentable. Now I love my handwriting (thanks Mom) and I always get compliments on it.

But I want to take it a step further. I have a few online classes bookmarked and a local one as well. The trouble is finding the time to sign up!

THREE Webdesign. I know literally 0% about what is happening on the online world. Which is pretty sad for a Graphic Designer. I need to step my game up. This is hopefully also in the works for this summer.

FOUR Run like a pro. I am just going to come right out and say I really don't like running. I have tried to like it, and given it second and third chances. I wish I could be one of those people who loved to run. But until then I will buy all the cute Nikes and keep practicing.

FIVE Say No. I read something once that said just because you can doesn't mean you should. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE working with my customers to make something awesome and custom. But I find myself getting the most worked up about things I just had no business saying yes to in the first place. This is more of a life skill, and believe me I am working on it!

I guess what it all amounts to is just making the time to learn new skills. Cameron and I decided last week we were going to cut out some of our TV time to learn new stuff over the summer and I am super excited about that!

What are some things you wish you could do?

My Favs on Thursdays | Favorite K Cup

It's time for another round of My Favs on Thursdays with my girls Katy & Meghan

We recently got a Keurig as an anniversary present from my Grandparents, it is teal and beautiful and I really just don't know what I did before it.

So as soon as we got it, and tore through the box of samples they give you with the machine to be sure you get totally hooked, we were on the hunt for our FAV KCup.

We usually shop for stuff we go through quickly at Costco (You know the essentials like Toilet Paper, Paper Towels and Coffee) so we wanted to be sure we tried a few they carried there.

And we found it...

We are loving The Original Donut Shop coffee so much we have bought it twice (like a huge pack of 80 KCups)

I love being able to brew one cup at a time, and not have to worry about making a whole pot and dumping it out when Cameron or I didn't want a second cup. It's awesome for having people over, because you don't have to worry about who wants coffee and who wants tea (they make tea KCups, but also you can just fill it up with water and press brew with no KCup in there and get hot water)

I also want to try the Sweet & Creamy Nutty Hazelnut Iced Coffee also made by Donut Shop, because I love all things Hazelnut and love iced coffee in the summer!

Do you have a Keurig? What is your FAVE KCup?

Beach Essentials

We are prepping for beach trip to one of our favorite spots, Hilton Head Island over the next few days. I can't wait to eat at our favorite Skull Creek Boathouse and do some shopping at my favorite Island Girl and of course relax with my family on the beach!

If you know anything about me you know that I love packing, and making lists. So here are a few things that I am packing up for the beach!

What is on your beach packing list?

This is a great tip for all of you bloggers out there! It is a really simple one, but sometimes the simple ones are the hardest to figure out.

Did you know that every Instagram user has a url? It is so for example mine is

This is what my page looks like...

Now let's say I wanted to share a picture from my page (but this works really well for sharing others users photos as well, as long as their profiles are public) and I wanted to make sure everyone knew it was from Instagram, and who was getting the credit.

I just find the photo I want to share, and click on it. The photo will open in a bigger screen like so...

then click on the [...] in the bottom right corner of the new window, right next to where it says leave a comment and click EMBED

Then another new window will pop up which contains the code for the image. Click COPY EMBED CODE

Since the embed code is now saved as your copy, just go into the HTML section of your blog, and paste the code where you want your picture to show up. It will then come through like this...

It shows the username of the instagram account, the # of likes and the # of comments as well.

As always leave any questions in the comment section and I will be sure to get back to you!

Five on Friday

It is Friday and like it or not we are still working at 5 o'clock #lifeofanentrepreneur

I just sent over these logo design mockups to my good friend Meghan, from as she is launching her new brand Hayes Made. You can check out her brand on Instagram (@hayesmade_)

Which of the mockups is your favorite?

I shopped online the majority of yesterday (which is probably why I am a day behind on work) and I ordered an adorable swimsuit from Aerie (because I like their bras + panties best, and I figured a swimsuit is kind of like that) I hope it fits! Where is your favorite place to get swimsuits

We are going to the beach in a little over a week and I have a very short list of things I needed to get before the trip. I have crossed almost all of them of the list except for a book, I asked earlier on my Instagram but any suggestions for a good beach read?

My very first Artsy Crush came today and I am totally smitten! I shared in on my shopdbn Instagram, but here it is again

she is all booked up for June but follow @artsyanthropology on Instagram, she always posts when they are about to be open for sale!

I snagged an old typewriter at a yard sale last weekend for $3! You really can't beat that deal! We are planning on spray painting it and using it as a part of our display at Ice Atlanta this summer. I am so excited!

I know what you are thinking, it is Friday. But oh well! I forgot to hit publish on this post yesterday and I just realized it.

Linking up with my girls to share one of my favs.

Walter & Rosie mouse inspired candles, and believe me they really do smell almost as good as being at Disney World.

There are so many awesome and perfect scents to choose from but this time I got Mickey Waffles (rich, buttery with a hint of maple syrup) & Main Street Bakery (so much cupcake love going on).
They make an awesome addition to our Disney pictures from out last trip this past September! Check out her website to see the full list of scents like pixie dust, Fa Mulan, and Why Does her Hair Glow? You can visit her Etsy shop here and she is offering something awesome to DBN readers!

ENTER THE CODE DESIGNSBYN for 10% off your order!

Let me know which one you get!

PS. Walter & Rosie sent me these candles to try but all opinions are entirely my own

Indie South Fair Recap

May 3rd & 4th we participated in Indie South Fair's Springtacular in Athens, GA. It was our first outdoor fair, so we were both nervous and excited to get the booth up and have a little more space and fresh air than the show in December.

Have I mentioned we have the most amazing friends who serve as our extra hands and help when we need it and accept payment in the form of lunch and unlimited thank you notes? This is Kelsey and even though people think we are sisters, we are not, just the best of friends.

We had the perfect space on the corner, please ignore the not too professional tent "weights" we only almost all blew away once.

Greeting card display Cameron made, complete with a chalkboard surface, nail ledges and twine to keep the cards in place.

Sunday we were assisted by the lovely Meghan of and then her hubby and brother in law helped us break down the booth when it was time to pack up which was an awesome help because by that point it was very HOT.

Thanks Athens, we had a great time and made some new customers & friends, even got to meet some customers in person who until then were only insta-friends.

I am so happy to be partnering with Logitech and sharing some DIY projects to help upgrade the office. You can read more about it & enter to win a really amazing prize pack in yesterday's post.

Today I am upgrading my Ikea MICKE drawer unit. This was one of the very first pieces we bought for the office area when we got married and were living in a small apartment. Since then it has served many uses, but when we changed to standing desks, it really didn't match the decor and look of the office.

So I thought I would make it into a statement piece using some of the contact paper that Logitech sent me {do you think I like that color turquoise or what} this is a very simple DIY and took me less than half an hour from start to finish.

Here is what you need...

I loved this contact paper because it had grids on the backside that made it super easy to cut straight. Here is the before picture of the unit. It's cute, but it needs some POP

So the first thing yo need to do is measure the drawers, I added an inch so I could wrap the ends around the sides, that way I wasn't SO worried about straight lines.

Then I measured to the middle of the drawer and made a little mark, that way I could line up the center chevron piece. Then I carefully laid it, made sure it was straight and then folded in the edges like I was wrapping a package.

Then I just repeated it on all of the drawers

Looks great right?! The awesome part is that it isn't stuck forever, so if you mess up, or get sick of it down the road just peel it up. And I even have some more to do some other projects with left over.

Then in all the unpacking from the festival this weekend, I decided to add the lanterns to the office. What do you think? Can't beat $2 from Target right?!

Don't forget about the giveaway!

It's time to share my favs along with a few of my favs Katy & Meghan!

This has been a crazy hectic week, it's wedding season which means our invite orders are stacking up, and we have been struggling to keep up with the shop and prep for the Indie South Fair event we have coming up this weekend.

One of those weeks where everything is due at once, and you just really don't think there are enough hours in the day.

In times like these Cameron and I are so privileged to get to call on some of our friends to help get the job done. People who don't mind being paid for their time with lunch from Chipotle and items they want from the shop.

People like you guys are my fav! You know who you are and we love you very much. If you ever start your own Etsy business and need people to stay up all night packing with you, just give us a call!
